Assist the cook and kitchen team with daily food preparation and kitchen operations. Duties include washing, peeling and cutting vegetables, preparing ingredients, cleaning meat and seafood where required, arranging ingredients for cooking, washing utensils and kitchen equipment, and keeping the kitchen area clean and organised.
The Kitchen Helper is also responsible for maintaining proper food hygiene, storing ingredients correctly, disposing of waste properly, assisting with stock arrangement, and ensuring that work areas are kept clean and safe at all times.
Main Duties:
Assist cooks with daily food preparation.
Wash, peel, cut and prepare vegetables and other ingredients.
Clean and prepare meat, seafood and other food items as required.
Arrange ingredients and cooking supplies before service.
Wash plates, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, worktables and food preparation areas.
Store food ingredients according to hygiene and safety requirements.
Assist with receiving and arranging kitchen stock.
Dispose of food waste and rubbish properly.
Follow food safety, hygiene and restaurant SOP requirements.
Assist kitchen staff during busy service periods.
Perform other kitchen-related duties assigned by the supervisor or employer.
