Kitchen & Housekeeping Assistant

We are looking for a responsible, reliable and hardworking team member to help maintain a clean, hygienic, organised and welcoming environment for our little explorers.

The role involves general housekeeping, meal preparation, gardening and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the centre. We welcome someone who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of providing a clean, safe and nurturing environment for young children.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Cleaning & Housekeeping
- Clean and maintain classrooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, dining areas and common spaces.
- Sweep, mop, dust, clean and disinfect floors, furniture, surfaces, toys and designated childcare equipment.
-Handle weekly laundry, including washing, drying, folding and organising bedding, towels and other items.
- Collect and dispose of rubbish properly.
- Keep cleaning equipment and supplies organised and stored safely.

2. Cooking & Kitchen Duties
- Prepare and cook daily meals for the children according to the centre's menu and instructions.
- Ensure food is prepared, cooked, stored and handled hygienically.
- Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, food preparation areas and dining spaces.
- Wash and organise cooking utensils, dishes and kitchen equipment.
- Monitor food supplies and inform the Principal when ingredients or kitchen essentials need replenishing.

3. Gardening & Outdoor Maintenance
- Water and care for plants in the garden and designated outdoor areas.
- Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the garden, walkways and outdoor spaces.
- Remove fallen leaves, weeds and garden waste as required.
- Report damaged equipment, potential hazards or unsafe outdoor conditions.

4. Hygiene & Safety
- Follow the centre's cleaning schedules, hygiene procedures and food safety practices.
- Ensure cleaning chemicals, tools and equipment are stored securely and kept out of children's reach.
- Conduct routine visual checks and promptly report hazards, spills, leaks, pest sightings or other safety concerns.
- Keep walkways and access areas clear and safe for children and staff.

5. General Support
- Prepare rooms and common areas for daily use and centre activities.
- Replenish cleaning supplies, toiletries and other housekeeping essentials.
- Carry out other reasonable duties related to the cleanliness, upkeep and daily operations of the centre, as assigned by the Principal.

Job Requirements
- Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping or cooking is an advantage.
- Able to prepare simple, healthy meals and willing to follow the centre's menu and food hygiene procedures.
- Comfortable performing basic gardening and outdoor upkeep.
- Responsible, trustworthy, hardworking and attentive to detail.
- Able to work independently and manage daily tasks efficiently.
- Physically fit to perform cleaning, cooking, laundry and gardening duties.
- Willing to learn and follow the centre's procedures and instructions.
