Quantity Surveyor

Responsibilities
• Prepare, review, and analyse Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for project costing, budgeting, and client submission.
• Prepare and review BOQ valuations and supporting documentation for discussion, negotiation, and agreement with clients.
• Monitor project costs and ensure expenditure and variations remain within the approved project budget.
• Prepare, evaluate, and monitor progress payment claims for subcontractors, vendors, and consultants in accordance with contractual terms.
• Prepare and process payment claims, including the preparation and issuance of payment certificates.
• Review and verify subcontractors’ and vendors’ claims against actual work progress, contractual requirements, and agreed payment terms.
• Develop appropriate payment claim methodologies for work items or services not covered by the client’s established payment milestones.
• Identify, evaluate, and assess variations, additional works, and changes to project scope, including their cost implications.
• Prepare cost estimates, cost reports, and other quantity surveying documentation for management review and approval.
• Liaise with the Project Management Team and Main Contractor on project cost matters, BOQ requirements, work progress, and contractual issues.
• Participate in weekly client progress meetings to provide updates on project costing, payment claims, variations, and other commercial matters.
• Coordinate with the Procurement and Administration Departments on BOQ requirements, purchase order documentation, and material cost information.
• Liaise with the Finance Department on payment claim status and payment matters relating to subcontractors, vendors, and consultants.
• Maintain accurate records of project costs, payment claims, certificates, variations, and other contractual documentation.
• Prepare and submit periodic quantity surveying and commercial reports to management.
• Ensure all quantity surveying activities and documentation comply with contractual requirements, project procedures, and company policies.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of two (2) years of working experience in quantity surveying, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of project costing, BOQ preparation, progress payment claims, variation orders, and cost control.
• Familiarity with contractual documentation, payment certification, and commercial administration.
• Able to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet project deadlines.
• Good analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in the railway industry will be an added advantage.
