FABRIC CUTTING TECHNICIAN

Job Responsibilities:
• Perform precise fabric measuring, marking, pattern placement and cutting for upholstered furniture, including sofas, dining chairs and other furniture products.
• Interpret cutting patterns, templates, technical drawings and upholstery specifications to ensure accurate fabric cutting.
• Select and inspect fabrics according to product specifications, colour, texture, quality and design requirements.
• Plan and optimise fabric layouts to maximise material utilisation and minimise fabric wastage.
• Operate, adjust and maintain fabric-cutting machinery, tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure all cut fabric pieces meet required measurements, shapes, seam allowances and quality standards.
• Inspect fabrics for defects, flaws, colour inconsistencies and other irregularities before cutting.
• Coordinate with pattern technicians, sewing operators, upholstery teams and production planners to ensure smooth production workflow.
• Monitor fabric consumption, cutting output and material wastage, and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Identify and resolve cutting inaccuracies, material issues and production problems.
• Maintain accurate records of fabric usage, cutting quantities and production activities.
• Ensure compliance with production schedules, quality control procedures and workplace safety requirements.

Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Manufacturing Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience; OR
• Diploma in the same fields combined with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on working experience in a related role.
