Senior Mechanical Engineer – Data Centre (HVAC & High-End Engineering)
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage mechanical engineering activities for data centre and other mission-critical projects, with a strong focus on HVAC/ACMV systems and high-end engineering solutions.
Oversee the design review, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of critical HVAC systems, including chilled water systems, chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, AHUs, pumps, piping networks and associated controls.
Review and verify mechanical engineering drawings, design calculations, technical specifications, equipment selections and shop drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements and design intent.
Ensure HVAC systems meet stringent data centre requirements for cooling capacity, redundancy, energy efficiency, reliability and operational performance.
Coordinate closely with Project Management, Engineering, Construction, QA/QC, HSE, consultants, equipment suppliers and specialist contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
Lead and supervise HVAC installation, inspection, testing and commissioning activities, including functional performance testing and integrated systems testing in coordination with the Testing & Commissioning team.
Troubleshoot complex mechanical and HVAC issues, conduct root cause analysis and implement effective technical solutions to resolve site and commissioning challenges.
Monitor site progress, workmanship, material specifications and installation quality to ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable standards and safety requirements.
Coordinate HVAC system integration with BMS, EPMS, electrical systems and other critical building services to support reliable data centre operations.
Review method statements, inspection and test plans, technical submissions, commissioning reports and other mechanical engineering documentation.
Provide technical guidance and leadership to Mechanical Engineers, Supervisors, subcontractors and site teams to ensure engineering quality and timely project delivery.
Monitor project schedules, identify potential technical risks and coordinate mitigation measures to minimise delays and ensure successful project completion.
Support client meetings, technical discussions, design coordination, site inspections and final handover to the client or operations team.
