JIG MAKER & FRAMER

Job Responsibilities:
• Design, fabricate, and modify production jigs, fixtures, templates, and positioning guides for accurate and repeatable furniture assembly.
• Interpret technical drawings, measurements, cutting lists, and product specifications to determine appropriate jig and fixture configurations.
• Develop jigs that improve alignment, drilling accuracy, cutting consistency, and assembly efficiency.
• Conduct trial runs and adjust jig settings to resolve dimensional inaccuracies or assembly difficulties.
• Fabricate, assemble, and repair wooden and other specified structural frames for sofas, armchairs, dining chairs, bed frames, and related furniture products.
• Measure, mark, cut, drill, shape, and join timber, plywood, engineered wood, and other approved materials according to production requirements.
• Ensure frame dimensions, joint alignment, structural stability, and fastening methods comply with approved specifications.
• Coordinate frame preparation with upholstery, foam fitting, stitching, and final assembly teams.
• Read and interpret furniture drawings, frame layouts, assembly diagrams, and material specifications.
• Verify measurements using appropriate measuring instruments, templates, and inspection tools.
• Identify and rectify frame misalignment, dimensional deviations, weak joints, and fitting problems before the next production stage.
• Recommend design or fabrication adjustments to improve manufacturability and reduce material wastage.
• Inspect completed frames and jigs for dimensional accuracy, rigidity, workmanship, and compliance with quality standards.
• Conduct or support frame stability and load-related checks according to approved testing procedures.
• Investigate recurring frame defects and implement corrective actions with production and quality teams.
• Standardise jig settings and frame assembly methods to maintain consistent product quality across production batches.
• Maintain woodworking tools, cutting equipment, drilling machines, jigs, fixtures, and related workshop equipment.
• Perform routine inspections and report damaged tools, machine abnormalities, and unsafe operating conditions.
• Follow factory safety procedures, including machine guarding, appropriate PPE, safe material handling, and housekeeping requirements.
• Coordinate with production supervisors, design personnel, carpenters, and quality inspectors to meet production schedules.
• Provide technical guidance to frame makers and assembly operators on jig usage and correct fabrication methods.
• Monitor material consumption, production efficiency, rework, and scrap rates.
• Maintain records of jig modifications, frame inspections, repairs, and process improvements.

Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design, Wood Technology, or a related discipline with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience; OR
• Diploma in the same fields combined with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on working experience in a related role.
