Responsibilities:
- Do 6G position welding on carbon steel pipe, using GTAW for the root and hot pass and SMAW for the fill and cap
- Weld to the WPS, drawings and project specifications
- Read and understand welding symbols, isometric drawings and the WPS
- Prepare joints, check fit-up and do pre-heating as required
- Achieve a low repair rate and pass RT/UT inspection
- Keep welding equipment and consumables in good condition
- Follow site safety rules, Permit-to-Work (PTW) and hot work procedures
- Work with fitters, supervisors and the QA/QC team
Requirements:
- Valid 6G GTAW + SMAW (double process) welder certificate (required)
- At least 3 years of experience as a 6G pipe welder in oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery or plant construction
- Must pass a welding test before deployment
- Can read welding symbols, the WPS and isometric drawings
- Valid CIDB Green Card (required)
- NIOSH OGSP is an advantage
- Experience with stainless steel or alloy pipe is an advantage
- Must have own transport to the site
- Can start immediately and complete the 1-year contract
