Structure Engineer

1. JOB PURPOSE

To plan, coordinate and oversee structural engineering activities, ensuring that steel structure works are designed, fabricated and installed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable engineering standards and safety requirements.

To collaborate with engineers, contractors and project stakeholders in developing technical plans, specifications and construction documentation, while monitoring site progress and resolving technical issues.

2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Review structural drawings, technical specifications, blueprints and other construction documents.

* Coordinate with engineers, contractors and project teams to develop project plans, specifications and construction documentation.

* Monitor the progress of structural works and verify compliance with approved designs, specifications and project requirements.

* Conduct site inspections to assess workmanship, installation quality and compliance with technical and safety requirements.

* Evaluate and recommend suitable steel materials, construction methods and installation techniques for each project.

* Assist in preparing project cost estimates, work schedules and implementation timelines.

* Participate in project meetings, technical discussions and site coordination activities.

* Ensure structural designs and construction activities comply with applicable regulatory, safety and environmental requirements.

* Maintain detailed records of installations, inspections, modifications, method statements and procedures relating to steel structure works.

* Coordinate with project teams, contractors, subcontractors and other relevant stakeholders.

* Work closely with field personnel, including welders, fitters and inspectors, to support the proper execution of structural works.

* Assist in planning and coordinating structural installation activities.

* Keep up to date with relevant industry practices, engineering technologies and construction methods.

* Prioritise safety during all site and field activities and ensure compliance with established safety procedures.

3. DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY

* Review and recommend technical solutions for structural engineering and installation issues.

* Coordinate technical decisions with other engineering disciplines, particularly civil and construction teams.

* Recommend suitable steel materials, construction methods and installation techniques based on project requirements.

* Identify non-compliance with approved drawings, specifications or engineering standards and recommend corrective action.

* Resolve routine technical issues within the scope of the position’s authority.

* Recommend improvements to enhance the quality, safety and efficiency of structural works.

* Escalate significant design changes, technical risks and project concerns to the relevant manager.

* Liaise with clients, vendors, contractors and internal teams on technical and project-related matters.

5. JOB REQUIREMENTS

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

* Minimum five years of relevant experience in oil and gas construction projects, preferably involving steel structure works.

* Strong understanding of engineering principles, structural design requirements and applicable regulatory standards.

* Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, technical specifications and construction documents.

* Knowledge of relevant engineering codes, industry standards and construction practices.

* Experience in monitoring steel structure fabrication, installation, inspection and modification works.

* Good technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Strong communication, coordination and stakeholder-management skills.

* Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.

* Proficiency in relevant engineering and design software would be an advantage.

* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and workplace safety.
